SERVICES

Pre & Post Op PT

Our goal is to relieve your pain
Before surgery, an evaluation and formal physical therapy program can help identify and improve any range of motion or strength deficits. The stronger you are going into surgery, the quicker you will recover afterwards.

After surgery, it is imperative to be under the care and direction of a physical therapist so you can safely progress through your protocol, avoid complications, and return to function at your fullest potential.

At Charlotte One on One Physical Therapy, you can be certain that your physical therapist will address any concerns you might have. Your physical therapist will design a specific post operative program so you can achieve your very best.

Manual Therapy

Professionally trained and certified
Manual therapy techniques are skilled hands on movements and skilled passive movements of joints and soft tissue that are intended to improve tissue extensibility, reduce tension, increase range of motion, induce relaxation, mobilize or manipulate soft tissue and joints, modulate pain, and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, or restriction. Techniques may include massage, mobilization/manipulation, manual traction, and passive range of motion.

Physical therapists select, prescribe, and implement manual therapy techniques when the examination findings indicate use of these techniques to decrease pain, spasm, or swelling.

Combined with a comprehensive physical therapy plan, manual therapy helps to enhance health, wellness, and fitness.

Dry Needling

Your rehabilitation starts with a proactive approach
Trigger point dry needling is a skilled procedure in which a solid monofilament needle is inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point. A myofascial trigger point consists of contracted bands of muscle tissue which produce pain, cause movement dysfunction, and effect overall muscle performance. (FAQ Link about Dry Needling)

Graston Technique

Restoration of pain-free movement and function
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is a method where a stainless steel tool is used to stimulate blood flow and decrease taut restrictions within a muscle. The tool allows the physical therapist to effectively and efficiently address soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions resulting in improved patient outcomes.

The use of instruments when combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise leads to the restoration of pain-free movement and function.

Kinesiotaping

Speeding up your recovery from trauma and injury
The Kinesio Taping® Method is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It can also prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.

Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesiology tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesiology tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

Cupping

Achieving local pain relief and muscle relaxation
The type of cupping we perform at Charlotte One on One Physical Therapy is a dry cupping method. Dry cupping involves creating slight negative pressure within the cup, pulling the skin away from the underlying structures. We use cupping for multiple reasons and it has multiple benefits! Dry cupping helps create short term pain mediation by using the pain gate-control theory and diffuse noxious inhibitory controls, increasing fascial mobility between the muscles and the fascial slings that connect various muscles throughout our bodies, and facilitating a healing response in specific tissues by increasing localized blood circulation. Dry cupping has been found to be beneficial for low back pain, neck pain, chronic pain states such as fibromyalgia and IBS, and a plethora of other conditions.
